AMHS Annual General Meeting 2026: Board Nominations Now Open

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 16 November 2026, online, and we are inviting members to put themselves or a colleague forward for election to the Board.

This year every current director retires and stands for election. That is deliberate. The Society has grown quickly from a founding group to more than 300 members across Australia, New Zealand and internationally, and we want a Board that holds office because the membership chose it, not because it appointed itself. So every seat is genuinely open.

What the Board does

We meet monthly by video for around two hours, with papers circulated beforehand. The work at the moment is the things that will decide the next few years: a new website and brand, growing the membership, building the education programme, and putting the Society on a sound financial footing. Directors are practising clinicians and professionals with full-time careers, so the commitment is real but manageable. It is a voluntary role. Directors are elected for a term of up to 3 years, after which they retire and may stand for re-election.

Who we would like to hear from

Anyone who cares about metabolic health and wants to help build the organisation. We would especially welcome interest from people with experience in fundraising or philanthropy, digital and education platforms, finance, or advocacy and public policy. Location is flexible as this is a remote voluntary position, so we want a Board that reflects where our members actually are.

How to nominate

Complete the AMHS Board Nomination Form by 5.00pm on Thursday 1 October 2026. You can nominate yourself, or nominate someone else with their consent. A nominee does not have to be a member of the Society, though the person nominating them does. If your AMHS membership has lapsed, you are welcome to nominate or be nominated once you have renewed.

Don’t leave it to the deadline. If you are interested and would like to talk it through first, please get in touch at ausmetabolichealthsoc@gmail.com. We are happy to have that conversation with anyone, including people who are not sure they are the right fit. Often they are.

Formal notice of the meeting, with the list of candidates and everything else you will need, will follow by 16 October 2026.
