Donor Story: Carla Veith-Carter

Carla: Nutritional Consultant and Health Coach

Carla Veith-Carter understands the impact of poor metabolic health intimately. As a Nutritionist and Health Coach, she sees it daily in the lives of her clients. But her connection to this work goes much deeper than her professional role.

Having been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and told there was nothing that could be done about her disabling symptoms, Carla refused to accept that as her reality. Through a range of lifestyle interventions, with improving her metabolic health at the heart of them, she was able to effectively manage her condition and reclaim her quality of life.

“Having been told there was nothing I could do about my disabling symptoms, I am extremely grateful that the specialist who told me this was proven wrong.”

For Carla, supporting the Australasian Metabolic Health Society was a natural extension of her own values and lived experience. She is passionate not only about metabolic health itself, but about the meaningful difference that quality education can make to health professionals and their patients.

What stands out most to her about AMHS is its independence. AMHS operates entirely free of corporate sponsorship, allowing the organisation to remain true to its mission without outside influence. Its resources are grounded in peer-reviewed research, with a clear goal of upskilling health professionals and developing evidence-based clinical guidelines.

“This is something that was sorely missing before AMHS filled the gap.”

As an AMHS member, Carla has experienced firsthand the calibre of education on offer through the Grand Rounds series, where clinicians and researchers from around the world share the latest evidence with a diverse community of health professionals.

“I encourage you to join, not only to be part of an incredible community but to benefit from the high calibre of speakers on offer.”

Carla believes that modern medicine is remarkable in many ways, but that it falls short when it comes to chronic disease. Conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and many others are too often managed rather than addressed at their root cause, which is frequently poor metabolic health and insulin resistance.

She is passionate about ensuring that health professionals are equipped with the knowledge to offer lifestyle strategies, alongside medication where appropriate, for the prevention and even remission of chronic disease.

“My hope is that awareness of the role of metabolic health in chronic disease will become mainstream and that health professionals will feel sufficiently knowledgeable to share powerful lifestyle strategies with patients and clients.”

Having seen the positive impact that improving metabolic health can have on individuals, and the meaningful contribution AMHS makes to both established and emerging health professionals, Carla has chosen to invest in the future health of Australasians through her donation.

“My greatest wish for the health of society is that the chronic disease epidemic declines and that more people are educated about how to address the root cause of their issues, to achieve optimal health.”

AMHS is deeply grateful for Carla’s generosity and her commitment to building a healthier future for all Australasians.
