Dr Gary Fettke MB BS, FRACS, FAOrthA
Dr Gary Fettke is an Australian orthopaedic surgeon practising in Launceston, Tasmania. While his clinical background is in surgery, his interest in preventative health and nutrition grew from seeing the severe complications of metabolic disease (such as diabetes-related amputations) in patients. In 2014, he co-founded Nutrition for Life – Diabetes and Health Research Centre with his wife, Belinda, aiming to improve health outcomes through dietary approaches, especially Low-Carb Healthy Fat (LCHF) eating.
Dr Fettke became a prominent public figure in metabolic health advocacy through talks, videos, and conference presentations promoting evidence-based nutrition for prevention and management of chronic disease, challenging conventional dietary guidelines. After being investigated and cleared by the Australian Medical Board, he continues to speak out against vested interests in nutrition policy. His educational talks have reached millions online, and he champions free speech as essential to scientific progress.
